Vocational Programs
Culinary Class
The Culinary class at Boys Republic has been in operation for nearly two decades, and within this time, we have introduced hundreds of students to the world of food service. We accept five to eight students per class, which gives us the ability to teach in a small group setting.
Student Bakery
Boys Republic students learn the art of baking and pastry while producing the products needed for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service on the main campus. The class began in February 2014 and, due to the booming popularity of the class, has since been expanded to accommodate additional students and the demands of the local community.
Metal Shop
Through hands-on training, the class teaches students to use tools, machines, and welding equipment. They craft the trophies for the annual Friends of Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show, showcasing their skills and pride. This program builds practical metalworking abilities and confidence for future careers.
Wreath
In the Wreath class, students gain hands-on experience in sales and warehousing, learning skills essential for assembly line work and customer service. They develop teamwork, organization, and communication while supporting the program’s operations. This training prepares them for various entry-level jobs with confidence and professionalism.
Wood Shop
In the Wood Shop class, students gain practical carpentry skills by building canoes, tables, and crafting bases for the Friends of Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show trophies. Boys and Girls Republic students learn to measure, saw, and sand precisely and carefully. This hands-on training instills discipline and prepares them for careers in carpentry and related trades.
Agriculture
In the Agricultural Program, students learn the fundamentals of land management while helping care for farm animals, maintain stables, and support daily operations. They gain hands-on experience in agriculture, landscaping, fruit tree cultivation, and the upkeep of Boys Republic’s 200-acre campus. The program fosters responsibility, work ethic, and a deep understanding of natural systems.
Automotive
In the Automotive class, students learn the fundamentals of vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, brake checks, tire replacement, and engine work. The course mirrors entry-level mechanic training and emphasizes hands-on experience under the hood. These skills prepare students to pursue jobs in machine shops or the automotive industry.
Print Shop
In the Print Shop class, students learn to design and produce signs, flyers, and banners for school events and nonprofit fundraisers. The program mirrors real-world print production, teaching students to manage workflows, timelines, and client needs. Students gain valuable project coordination and visual communication skills through this hands-on training.
