Boys Republic Visit State Leaders to Advance Mission for At-Risk Youth

Boys Republic was honored to visit Deputy Richard Figueroa and Assemblymember Phillip Chen of the 55th District to discuss the organization's mission to transform the lives of at-risk youth. During their visit, they engaged directly with former students, gaining insight into their challenges and the opportunities that shape their path forward.
The Executive Director of Boys Republic took a few former students along for the journey. They shared their tumultuous stories, what led them to Boys Republic, and how the school has reshaped their lives.
Boys Republic's former alumnus, Mike Jones, said, "We are grateful to share our story with leaders who recognize the potential Boys Republic has, and are committed to helping us build brighter futures."
We care deeply about the boys and girls who attend our nonprofit school. That care drives us to take consistent action on their behalf, rooted in compassion, accountability, and belief in their potential.
As a key element of our advocacy efforts, we routinely journey to Sacramento to articulate our mission before California's legislative and executive leaders. These engagements are not merely ceremonial; they are crucial. For our students, many of whom have grown up in circumstances where their perspectives were marginalized or dismissed, the opportunity to share their experiences in such influential spaces affirms their inherent worth and empowers their emerging voices.
We believe in taking initiative—not just in our classrooms but also in the legislative arena, where policy and support for youth programs are shaped. When we speak with policymakers, we do so with a commitment to the future of our students.
Our message is simple: every young person deserves a second chance and the tools to succeed.
Boys Republic would like to thank Assemblymember Phillip Chen of the 55th District and Deputy Richard Figueroa for their time and engagement with Boys Republic students.
We would also like to thank Jason Gonsalves for sharing his mission and the impact of Boys Republic. Collaborations with policymakers and advocates strengthen the organization's century-long mission to empower young men and women to become responsible, self-reliant citizens.
